Reiki is a Japanese healing art that was developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The term Reiki (and it's pronounced "ray-key") is translated from the Japanese language and means universal life force. Reiki was developed with the intent of bringing enlightenment, peace and harmony into people's lives. It was designed to connect you to universal love and therefore balance every aspect of your life.
Reiki is a holistic healing practice, which means that it works on all levels (physical, mental and spiritual). It involves being connected to the unlimited supply of universal energy and acting as a passageway to direct that energy to a willing recipient. To be able to 'tap into' this energy, one must be attuned and taught by a Reiki master. The techniques are easy to learn and easy to use and many be practiced on or by anyone. There are two types of healing: hands on (or nearly on) and distance healing. Both are equally effective as it is the practitioner's attention and intentions that count, how it is performed is simply up to the recipient. As the energy flows, it may vary in speed depending on the recipient's state of health but it always goes to where it is required to unblock energy barriers and assist the body to function optimally. Do remember that it is the universal energy that is healing; the practitioner is simply a conduit.
I feel that it's important to note that Reiki is not associated with any one belief system or doctrine, organized or otherwise. It's a healing practise that can be incorporated into anyone's life at any time and there are absolutely no harmful side effects. Reiki may be practiced on people, animals and plants all with the same degree of energy flow and potential for healing.
Using Reiki is simple and the principles are such that they should be incorporated into ones daily routine. When a practitioner chooses Reiki they also choose a certain way of life. One can choose to just be a Reiki practitioner but if one chooses to BE Reiki, the practice is much more beneficial to themselves and everyone around them. By living Reiki, one lives these following principles:
Just for today...
Please be aware that unless I have consent from the recipient, I will not perform a Reiki treatment. If you'd like me to "pray" for or "send love" to someone you know who needs a Reiki treatment, please ask them if it's ok that I do so.
