Champissage - Technique
The Indian Champissage technique is simple. The upper body is addressed beginning with the head. It is requested that clients remove any jewellery from their ears, face and neck as well as glasses so that the technique can be employed to its full potential. It is done in a chair with the client fully clothed, and therefore avoids any anxiety or embarrassment. It is perfect for people who have a busy life and can easily be performed in the office, where stress levels are high and time is precious. Normally, treatments last about 40 minutes but if you'd like to shorten it due to time constraints, the treatment will be adjusted for you.
- The practitioner's hands are laid on the client's hands to 'get connected'. Both take deep breaths to prepare for the session that will unfold.
- The shoulders are full of tension and therefore, they are the first part of the body to be addressed with this massage.
- Then, the upper back, around the scapula and to the shoulders again.
- The upper arms follow with techniques to relax the shoulders some more.
- The neck is important for head movement and tension may cause headaches. The neck muscles are massaged and tension is released.
- The scalp is next - most people have not experienced a scalp massage and find it incredibly soothing. The muscles are massaged, the hair is tugged (gently) and friction is applied to stimulate blood flow.
- The face can sometimes get frozen (or feel that way) and part of the Champissage addresses the face and the delicate muscles that need easing. With the face, I include the ears, which when stimulated elicit an overall sense of ease.
- I end the session with subtle energy balancing to tie together the entire session and at the end usually hear 'it can't be over, please continue...'
